Arthritis
Treatment shaped around symptoms, function and daily life
Arthritis can lead to chronic joint pain, stiffness, reduced mobility and difficulty with work or everyday activities. The same X-ray finding can affect different people in very different ways.
Non-operative treatment
Depending on the joint and diagnosis, care may involve education, suitable activity, rehabilitation, support for strength and mobility, medication when appropriate, and planned review.
When surgery may be considered
Surgery or joint replacement may be discussed when joint damage is advanced, symptoms substantially affect life and appropriate non-operative treatment no longer provides adequate benefit.
An individualized decision
Age alone does not decide treatment. Symptoms, examination, imaging, general health, activity needs, expectations and personal priorities all contribute to a considered plan.
A considered next step
Discuss your orthopaedic concern
An individual consultation can help clarify the diagnosis and appropriate treatment options.
